2023 "Suerte" Pinot Noir
Solomon Hills Vineyard, 97 Points
"The westernmost vineyard in Santa Maria Valley, Solomon Hills is shaped by sea winds and sandy soils—conditions that give Suerte its unmistakable energy and lift. The 2023 vintage, marked by patience and precision, allowed this site to shine. On the nose, forest floor, and a whiff of ocean salinity lead into a palate rich with cherry, pomegranate, and wild strawberry. Notes of allspice, vanilla bean, and cinnamon graham rise in waves, wrapped in a powdery, mineral texture that lingers with quiet tension. This wine hums with coastal rhythm—playful yet profound, with an almost magnetic pull." - Paul Lato
"From the Solomon Hills Vineyard, not far from Bien Nacido, and brought up 17 months in 65% new French oak, the 2023 Pinot Noir Suerte is slightly deep ruby/plum-hued and shows spicy black cherries, black tea, orange blossom, and forest floor notes. It's incredibly complex and layered, medium-bodied on the palate, with a pure, seamless mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and some classic Santa Maria salinity on the finish. It too will keep for a decade. Drink 2025-2035."- 97 points, Jeb Dunnuck
